I'd check the return policy from where you get a new one just in case that is not the issue.

Do I need the MITO 2 harness if I'm going to be using an aftermarket headunit, aftermarket amp, and aftermarket speakers? I bought all this stuff from Crutchfield. How would I wire it up?

No, only if you are using the factory Fosgate amp and speckers.

if I get the MITO2 won't it make it easier to do the wiring? All I will have to do is plug the new radio into the MITO(after I hook up the MITO harness to the radio harness from Crutchfield) and then run my patch, power, and turn on cables to my new amp, and then run new speaker wire. Is this correct?

Did your amp come with a drawing/schematic of how it's supposed to be hooked up? Is the amp only for a sub or for all speakers?

acerzr2, Does your car have SSS and is the aftermarket amp only for the sub?

If you amp is only for the sub and you have a SSS you will need the mito-02.

If you have a GSR without SSS you do not need the mito-02.

If your amp is for those aftermarket speakers you are putting in then I would have to look at the drawing/schematic from your amps instructions.

Yes, my car has the sun/sound package, but I don't like anything about it.
Here are the parts I'm going to be using....

Kenwood KDC-BT645U (with Scosche kit)
Polk Audio db6501 components (x2)
Sony XMZR704 4/3/2 Channel ZR Series Amplifier
speaker wire
amp wiring kit

I do NOT want to use the factory amp, sub, speakers, or headunit.

The Sony amp will be powering only the Polk speakers with new speaker wire running to them.

I don't care about the bluetooth or steering wheel controls.
I just want to know if this will work. I'm not sure if I need the MITO 2 harness or not, but won't it make it easier to solder the connections if I use it?

That way, I will solder the wires on the MITO 2 to the wires coming off the back of the Kenwood headunit, then plug the MITO into the factory plug. This would be easier to do at the kitchen table than in the car.

I hope this makes since and thanks for the help!

can I wire this http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1207070...&ssi=0&tp=2977

into the wire harness off the back of the Kenwood headunit, then plug it into the factory radio plug? Remember, I don't want to use anything from the Fosgate system. All aftermarket parts (radio, amp, spkrs, spkr wire, amp wiring kit)

That harness is the one you will need to connect your HU to the car. Order that first. Most HU's these days all have the same standard color coding for speaker wires so you should be able to just match the wire colors from you HU to the wire colors of the harness. Be sure to check the instructions on the back of the harness packaged to be sure the colors all match up.

I've dealt with bypassing a stock amp before but not on this car. If some one else could chime in on this I would go with what they say. You will most likely need to get a amp bypass harness. You will disconnect the harness that goes into the RF amp and out of the RF amp and connect both ends with that bypass harness. I do not know the location of the RF amp but I'm sure you can find it on here some where.

I would put the sony amp under the passenger seat. Once you get the door panels off run each speaker wire to the amp. Then run the wires from the amp back to the speaker locations and into the Polk Crossovers. Out of the crossovers you will wire to the actual speakers. There is a lot of room behind the HU so I would put the crossovers back there unless you can find a spot behind the door that wont mess with the window.

Don't forget to unplug your battery terminal. You can find a chassis ground in the center console for the amp and you will have to run power straight from the battery to your amp.

I hope that helps and anyone who see's something wrong with that I wrote please feel free to correct me.

zerocool21, I shouldn't need an amp bypass harness since I'll be running new RCA cables from my aftermarket Sony amp to the new headunit and new speaker wires from Sony amp to the speakers. Of course I'm not a pro at this by any means so if someone knows for sure please let me know. Thank you for the suggestions. Crutchfield tech told me that I Had to use the MITO 2 harness, but I don't think he remembered that I had an aftermarket amp

Hmm, you know I'm sorry I can't say for sure what to do then. If you go RCAs from the HU to the amp then back to the Harness you will hit the RF amp before you get to the speakers. Since the car is already wire to split the signal to the tweeters I don't know if you really need the crossovers. Sorry about that! Good luck, hope someone else can chime in

Apparently this http://www.crutchfield.com/p_1207070...&ssi=0&tp=2977

won't work. Can anyone please help me with this. There has got to be a way to replace everything in this car and get it to work without the factory amp and headunit.

thanks for the help zerocool21
