won't work. Can anyone please help me with this. There has got to be a way to replace everything in this car and get it to work without the factory amp and headunit.
thanks for the help zerocool21

do you have the rockfor system? if so you can catch your speaker wires at the amp under the passenger seat, find the wires, and extend them to where the radio goes, everything else is a normal installation.
im having the same problem with it turning off and not coming back on at startup.
the temp fix for me is to install a toggle for the power. when you disconnect the MITO unit and reconnect it, the stereo will come right back on. otherwise, all you get is the annoying little kenwood light. i have the mito with a kenwood dnx 9140 btw.
oh, for those of you wondering - a new deck like this one and the mito unit will make the rockford sub come alive. youre still missing a couple low freq's but for the most part, its a helluva lot better sound than with the stock head unit. i dont like however, that the sub is controlled by the front inputs and not the rears as mentioned earlier. when you use the eq and x-over to kill the bass in the fronts and rears, you lose bass in the sub. annoying enough to make me want to run a separate amp and sub in the rear in the stock subs place.

I am thinking of using MITO-02 with an aftermarket deck but I have read in the forum that the sound quality became worse relative to the stock deck because high frequency becomes very washed out. Does anyone have that same issue?
As has been said many times - replace the amp. Installing the MITO-02 with an aftermarket head unit just convinced me that I needed to replace the amp.
Many people are happy with the stock head unit after they replace the amp.

Thank you for your comment but I am not interested in repalcing the amp. I am not an audiophile and I am perfectly happy with the stock RF system. The reason I want to change the headunit is because I want GPS and real-time traffic feature due to my commute. I was thinking about the OEM Nav but the current unit does not have real-time traffic feature.
I posted this in another thread but didn't get an answer,
I want to use my RF system with a car pc install. Could I just wire up the pwr/gnd per the evo harness, amp turn on from the pc power supply (has anti-thump remote wire for amp) and just run the RCAs from the computer to the MITO-02 RCAs?
I guess what I am saying is that if I supply the power from the car all the MITO-02 uses is RCA signals right?

Just adding my two cents here - I got this with my new headunit a couple of weeks ago and put it all in last weekend. The Metra harness made the install a BREEZE - no soldering or cutting wires, just line up the colors in the instructions and vamp clip and plug it in. I did all the wiring on my desk in about 30 mins and it worked the first time
sorry to bump an old thread but there's a lot of info here. so i have a question. can i use the regular metra 01 the 20 harness if i replace the stock amp? like can i use it with my pioneer in dash nav system? or will i still need the 02 expensive harness?
yeap i just found this out man. unless you plan on re running all new speaker wires and replacing your amp you have to get the mito-02
