Missing Video In with Navigation Package?
Hi,
I have a '10 MR with the factory navigation option, and it plays DVDs just fine, but for some reason it doesn't have a composite video RCA input. Just L/R RCA audio. Two plugs underneath the climate control. Is this normal?
I thought maybe only non-US cars had video in, but I found some people in US posting that they had it. Perhaps it's because mine is a CA car?
I've called the dealership and Mitsubishi tech support multiple times and didn't get any answer. Believe it or not, the tech support tried to tell me my car can't even play DVDs, and would only do so if I purchased the rear-seat video option. Sigh... those folks better not get a raise for the next decade or so.
Anyway, anyone know? This is driving me nuts!

Well, anyhow, I made a bunch of calls and though I still didn't figure out why some cars have it and some do not, I did find out that one could buy the appropriate part/harness. Apparently, it should plug right into the nav. However, your nav will have to be programmed to recognize the connection. So, the part is ~$60, and labor to install/program = ~$70 from the dealership.
Hope this helps if anyone else was curious.

Sounds as if your MMCS was a dealer installed option, and they forgot to install that portion. I'd go back to the dealership, and look at the cars with the factory-installed MMCS (at least in 08, that was the distinction between the cars with audio-only and A/V inputs), and if it's born out, ask them nicely to complete the installation. Do let us know what you find on that, though...

Also when I called the dealership parts department they said that for my vin it should only have the two audio plugs no video per his database. But he couldn't tell me which cars have it and which do not
also the parts person said he never saw any car in the lot have all three plugs. This is southcoast Mitsubishi FYI
what do you think?
Mine is an 08 with the nav and crapwood amp. It is missing the video_in plug it just has the Left and right inputs.. but in the back the harness has all the cables. So i think its just the connection box that dont have the plug.. I got the car at south cost..

mine's an 08 and I have 3 plugs!! But honestly, after I got the DVD hack, the only movies I'll be playing are DVD's while driving for my passengers to watch! Partially because the aux hasn't been hacked yet! :P If that ever gets resolved, I'm going to PS3!!!
yup! actually, i want an aux hack too if it were possible. cause ultimately what i really want is one of those video gauge systems that you connect to a monitor. so i was thinking of buying one of those and sending the output to our nav, but that would only work if someone could hack the aux to work while driving.

Goofygrin posted a solution to allow you to display information while in motion - he wired a switch to the reverse gear wire in the unit, and uses the backup camera input for his video.
