Need help with AUX/Bluetooth/Steering Wheel module
AUX/Bluetooth/Steering Wheel project / Update 05/10/10
Hi guys, i need some help and only place i could think of is here
I want to be able to use my current bluetooth controls that aren't being used that came with my Fosgate setup, but since I have an Alpine IVA-W505, i lost that functionality
I also just bought the PAC steering wheel control module that i have no idea how i'm going to install it, i never did anything beyond doing a radio install.
while I did rig up my own fancy ipod dock that replaced the ashtray, i'm not that great with installations. (i'll have a pic of that dock in just a bit also)

I want to be able to use my current bluetooth mic that is inside the dome light also
and I also want to somehow get my AUX connections (Yellow/White/Red) to work with my after market radio that has composite in (AUX in).
I would really appreciate anyone's help. so to narrow it down i need help with the following:
Edit: May 10, 2010 - I got the aux jack box out, now i just have to figure out how to hardwire composite cables directly, i don't want to damage or modify the box too much, i want to retain the harness jack just in case i ever plan to sell the car (not likely for a while)
This time being able to see better thanks to the Sun's position, i was able to see the module from the back, the clips that hold it in are on the bottom and top, two on the bottom if you press up while going in from behind the radio area (see picture), you can pop the box out no sweat, the harness is a no brainer to remove.

also a tip, if you have a GPS thats separate from your radio, i recommend using the aux box opening (see picture 2 below) to run the power cable through that hole into the back where the radio wiring is, then run that wire to the opening on the side where your steering wheel is, run the wire over the steering wheel top mold and run up along side the gauges (there is a small gap between the gauge bezels and the dash that will hold a thick wire neatly in place). now you have a wire that won't get in your way while driving and it looks alot neater doesn't it?

next i need to figure out the Bluetooth.

it looks like i can retain the controls but i can't retain the module or the mic, so that won't work unless i do splicing...
in any case, i started to install my steering wheel module tonight and i was very frustrated trying to get it work . . .
i eventually found on here that you have to ground the steering wheel ground to a ground loop of the regular ground
I got the steering wheel to interface with the module, but now i can't figure out why my Alpine won't work with the module
although i don't have a remote in jack in the back of the stereo, i have a wire!?
IVA-W505 is what i have, any ones help is very very much appreciated, I was trying to figure this out tonight for almost 5hrs of nothing but frustration....

Did you plug the PAC into the back of your unit?
Which model of PAC did you get? PAC SWI-JACK or PS?
If you have the correct PAC, did you program it?
Did you unplug your existing BT interface box (behind the passenger dash, above the glove box)?
You are correct, though, that you will have to do some splicing in order to use your built in mic and AUX ports to work with your stereo. I have my AUX ports wired up - and they work great. If you get your mix working, please send us some pics of how you did it. I'd love to get back to using my built in mic instead.

and yeah, i'll see if i can figure out the bluetooth thing sometime, but i spent way too much this pay to do anything else. got my Lancer's windows tinted cost a good bit, and bought new wiper blades and the steering module.
next is the bluetooth module for the Alpine and i do intend figuring out how to get the OEM mic working with the bluetooth.
I'll keep this thread updated as i progress, I feel like a moron not seeing the remote dongle wire, i thought it was for my ipod video wire but nope, that jack is in the back of the radio, not on a dongle.
I really need to figure out how to get the AUX jacks working with my deck though...
do you have a diagram or a picture of what the install might be like? i tried and tried to pop off the A/C panel and i can't figure it out, i got the shifter panel and all that stuff, but can't figure out the A/C panel. and i just realized i'm rambling because all my stuff is out of order. sorry, i tend to do that.... Regarding the lag - ensure you grounds are good, and the reprogram the unit with the car running. Some people have found that a small difference in voltage that the unit sees when programming sometimes results in a delay in the operation.
Regarding the AUX jack, we pulled out the box with the connectors, removed them from the wiring harness, and then soldered a set of RCAs to the back of it. Sorry I don't have a pic, but once you get the unit out of the dash, it's pretty straight forward.

Thanks for the heads up on the lag, i'll see if i can re-program it, as it was professionally wired up, i don't think they had the car turned on when they were programming it though just to the ignition it was (there i'm talking like Yoda again!) lol
i pretty much tore the entire center console/cupholder/shifter area apart trying to get that piece off to no avail

I'll end up trying tomorrow though as i don't like giving up
plus i have off so its something to do lol
