I installed an after market head unit and HIDs in my fog lights. When ever I turn the fogs on, the radio gets static. When I turn the fogs off, the static goes away completely. Im thinking its either:

1. Fog lights maybe drawing alot of current

2. I didnt push the antenna far enough in the back of the head unit


What do you guys think????????????

 

Hmm, check your ground on the ballast. That would be my first thought, I would make sure that your connections are complete.

If you believe that your antenna isn't completely pushed in, check your AM radio stations. the other test to rule out the Antenna, is play a CD, if the noise is still present, even while playing CD's (or some other audio format, I.E. Ipod, Aux in Etc. ) then the noise would logically be in your Ballast connections, or the head unit connections.

check the illumination wire hook up on the back of your head unit (if you connected it, Usually Orange or Orange/white stripe). I would just eliminate things one by one until you can cover all bases.

^^ Thanks. I think the CD method might help me the most. If it makes static with the CD/ fogs turned on, then its definitely the fogs that are causing the static issues.
