Battery powered BT audio reciever

hey guys,

I want to stream music from my phone to my car. I've been using the old headphone to rca cable, but I hate having cables everywhere.

So, I started looking for a way to stream music from the phone to the car without wires and I think I may have found a device.

http://translate.google.com/translat...3DN%26prmd%3Dl

It's a logitech LBT-AR200C2. 4980 yen = $57

Looks small enough to maybe velcro up to the top of the storage bin under the headunit, and it's rechargeable...

Anyone else know where I can buy this in the USA? Or does anyone have a better idea on how to acomplish my goals?

Newegg used to have a few similar devices, but I can't seem to find any of them.

Kensington makes something similar (LINK) as does Belkin (LINK).

Just have to be careful to find one that's made to convert a stereo Bluetooth signal into analog (3.5mm out), as there are quite a few that are made to convert an analog signal (3.5mm input) to a stereo Bluetooth signal instead. Unfortunately, these 2 devices could physically look identical, but function in 2 completely different ways.

EDIT: Just found this one, that looks a little more comparable to the Logitech one you found.. Miccus BBMR-02 BluBridge (LINK). Under $60 w/free shipping from Amazon, built-in battery that lasts up to 8-hours, charges over USB or included AC adapter, super-small size, and even includes a 3.5mm to stereo RCA cable. You should double-check, but from the description, it seems that this one is definitely made for converting a stereo Bluetooth signal from your phone into an analog signal for your stereo.

The BluBridge looks great!

Good find. I'm gonna buy it! I'll report back with results.

I will find a 12v to USB power adapter to chop up and wire into the cigarette lighter to provide constant power

I would like something I could wire into the car (not battery operated) that I could hide behind the console, and make it so that I can still use the aux in if I want to.

Found something similar, but can't find it anywhere else on ebay

Well, yes and no. Those devices all run on DC power, and you're given an AC adapter in the box to convert AC to DC. Therefore, you can just cut the AC adapter off and wire it into something that has the right voltage for it. In my case, I'll just build a little voltage divider if it doesn't take the full 12 volts.

Then I'd hide it behind the center console, and put the RCA cables through so you can still use the stock jacks for other things, or plug in the bluetooth adapter.

Glad someone posted this thread. Not sure why I didn't think about this before.

Maybe something like the Kenwood KOS-A300BT (LINK).. it's supposed to add stereo bluetooth streaming, handsfree calling, and a USB input for a flash drive or MP3 player to a factory radio. It outputs to any factory stereo that has a 3.5mm input.. but, a short 3.5mm to stereo RCA adapter cable would work in our case. Oh, and it has a stereo RCA input jack of its own, since its output would be using the car's factory RCA-in.

Unfortunately, it's $350 - around the same price as a full replacement stereo with similar features. It's still kinda neat though.

Why not just upgrade your HU to something that supports bluetooth audio.

Alright guys,

After all this time, I finally got tired of wiring my droid to the damn RCA jacks....

So I ordered this:

http://www.amazon.com/Belkin-F8Z492-.../dp/B0035JL35O

and

I bought a 12v->5v cigarette lighter adapter to usb thingy and will dissasemble it and hard wire it into the car.

Output of this adapter is 750ma or so and the current draw of the Belkin reciever is only 180ma

I guess I will mount it on the ceiling of the compartment the RCA jacks sit in, I just have to find a clean way to get power there.

Anybody know of an easy way to get to the backside of the RCA plugs?

I would like to drill a small hole right next to the RCA plug to route the power wire through.

I used the BlackBerry one for my setup.
http://www.amazon.com/BlackBerry-Rem...ef=pd_sim_e_26

It is currently connected to my pioneer avic Z3 aux input. I actually split the AUX input rcas using a Y adapter so I either use the Bluetooth Gateway or the stock AUX input jacks (for non-bt devices)

For power, I bought an extra universal cig lighter and a cig lighter to USB adapter. I wired the cig lighter to my fuse box, plugged in the USB adapter and plugged the BT Gateway into the adapter. The extra cig lighter and usb adapter are zip tied behind the radio and the BT Gateway is hidden behind the radio as well. It just powers on with the accessories and my phone or any other accessory automatically pairs with it.

Just an option if you don't want to cut apart the 12v-5v cig lighter adapter.

Hey guys, I need a little car audio advice.

I have completed my BT receiver project and it works and sounds great, except for one thing. I'm getting some type of alternator whine.

Here is my setup:

+12v from fusebox to 12v to 5v usb adapter (cut and soldered and hidden behind dash).
Ground from metal dash supports behind stereo to same 12v to 5v adapter.

Both power wires route from the 12v to 5v adapter down to my Belkin BT receiver

I'm getting some, not alot, of engine noise (rpm related) in the speakers.

Since this is BT we are talking about most ground loop isolators won't work since they are designed to work on the audio cables and not the power cables.

Any idea's how to solve this?

Sounds like you need the RCA ground loop isolator on ebay. The bluetooth receiver is still connected to the Aux port via RCA and it is also getting power from the car to the bluetooth unit. Disconnect one rca and the sound goes away, Try it and report back

Thanks for the reviews guys. What happens if you have the phone paired with the car's OEM bluetooth for calls and one of these devices for streaming music? Any way to setup which bluetooth signal it uses for each?
