I just bought my car - a 2008 GSR. There is a small antenna box or something attached to the upper driver side inside windshield. I looked through the manual but it doesn't explain what it is; I'm wondering if it's aftermarket. Any ideas?

It's the antenna for your aftermarket alarm. It's a little blurry or i might be able to tell the brand, but probably a viper or python breed.

 

Cool! Do Vipers require a separate remote, or do they piggyback on the factory remote? All I got was one factory key, no stand-alone remote. . .

Would there be a module hidden somewhere? Where are the usual places?

That's a good question. Every time I've had an aftermarket alarm installed they always give me the new key pad to use

 

Most of them require a remote. There is one serires that does without, but not with an antenna like that. There should be a "brain" black box with multiple clip in harnesses, if it's still in there. You could always reprogram a new remote, but some one may have the old one still. Either way it should kinda look like this.

Thanks for the replies - I'm going to take it to my stereo/alarm guys and see if they can figure out what's going on. Hopefully I can just buy a remote and have a sweet alarm
