Modded Evo + Bluetooth sucks?

So I got a new Alpine CDA-117 head unit and the 400BT Bluetooth module. I have an external amplifier, so I am not using the HU's onboard amp section.

I tested the Bluetooth in my garage and was pleased- Mic is clipped on my visor, everything sounded pretty good.

Well, that all went to crap once I got on the interstate. I have to go like 80% with the volume on the HU to even hear the caller, and my car is really quiet with a T1R-76S exhaust. The obvious problem there is when the call ends, I have to grab the volume knob quickly, because the stereo at that level would blow me out of the car.

Hopefully there is a bluetooth telephone signal gain I am missing. The streaming audio does not have this issue, but boy the phone does.

Anyone bump into this? I would like it to work better. Thanks.

I have a similar problem, I have a kenwood deck and BT, no one can hear me on the highway. Sound like the opposite of your problem. Lower speeds it works fine. I have a Cobb tbe, not the loudest out there, but I am thinking that has something to do with it.
The stock bt worked like a gem.

Is the headset volume on your phone turned up all the way?

I have a JVC head unit with bluetooth and the callers volume is in line with the stereo volume. The deck can even adjust the volume of the two separately. Very nice. Sorry to hear you are having trouble.

I had your problem.. best solution I found is going with a BT ear piece. I went with the Jawbone Era. No problem hearing the caller, and apparently no one has any problems hearing me. I've got Perrin TBE, and no problems with call quality even with my windows down

I personally, am against ear pieces. Too much to muck around with. Always gotta make sure you have it with you, a lot hurt my ears.

I know you had imprint sound done, I almost wonder if this is messing with your loudness of bluetooth.

Have you tried adjusting the crossover for just bluetooth? I'd imagine on a deck that high, that crossover settings are different for all sources. May want to call Alpine and ask their advice.

After going through the manual for the KCE-400bt. I noticed you can change your output speaker.

I also noticed you have MIC Input volume sensitivity. Play around with this (0-15). Start with 3, then 8, then 14. I know it sounds weird to adjust input sensitivity, but Parrot is notorious for doing auto adjusting based on what the mic can sense. Just play around is all I can suggest. Make sure you hang up each time you change it, as per the manual it doesn't change during a call.
