Battery, Alternator, or Fuses?

Car will be 2 years old in September. Today while in 395 traffic, battery light started flashing. First slowly then after 15 minutes or so, it became rapid. Plugged in the Cobb Accessport and see that the battery voltage is reading 12 volts instead of 14 volts. 20 minutes later, 11.8...then 11.5. Car barely made it to a Car Quest auto parts store. Had the battery tested and it was a 75% discharge. Buy a new battery and put it in just to see in case it was the battery. Still only 12 volts. Barely made it back home which is about an hour away. So I guess its not the battery. Fuses are still good and so is the fuse link assembly. Tomorrow I'm going to take it down to Mitsubishi in Richmond, thinking its the alternator. Any other guesses?

Sounds like the alternator. I had the battery light start flashing on my old talon and it end up being the alternator. At least the warranty will cover it since its only 2 years old.

^^ agree sounds like the alternator
get a battery and charging system test, it will tell you whats wrong. I have also seen this symptom from a shorted battery that struggles to take a charge.. Most commonly the aternator... GL today

My buddy who's the Mitsubishi mechanic that is working on it says its either the voltage regulator or PCM. He'll have to order the parts, probably be Wednesday before the car is done.

I'll post back when we know for sure.

So turns out it was not the alternator. lol Mitsubishi replaced the alternator and that wasn't the issue. Turned out the issue was a connection wire to the fuse link assembly. Apparently it melted some plastic at the connection point. They cleaned it up and replaced it and now its working perfectly again.
