The JDM hazard button assembly did not play nice with my RF stock dash and i had the same issue. I had to swap over the button assemblies. Very easy, just a few small screws. The JDM one looks better as it does not have the passenger airbag indicator, but I think that is what also trips it.

And for those "making do" with Metra/Sochse...Get the JDM panel. Yes, its $250 shipped, and you have to wait a month from JDM land, but it is very much worth it. Fit is flawless, and I had a Sochse and it buzzed very bad with the solid front motor mount I run. Also, the JDM kit is perfect for custom mounting a Nexus 7 tablet.

Seriously guys... I just want to keep my stock dash right now with the silver trim. I want a DVD screen in their as well.. but i do not want to lose my silver trim. I really like that.. I thought maybe instead of going 7" screen i could just do the factory size (6.1" screen) and get away with it.. but people are saying i can not. So now idk what to do...

If you want to use the 2014+ dash cage and keep your silver trim bit you can but you'll need a universal double-din trim piece to make it look nice.

Otherwise, you're stuck going aftermarket. It's not a big deal to modify the universal trim to look nice....

7" vs 6.1" won't matter. The exterior dimensions will be the same since double-DIN is a standard and you'll have the same gap. (Some HUs might come with a trim piece)

The faceplate trim on the factory stereo isn't a separate piece that you can re-use.

Oh, and the JDM kit won't help you either. You'll still need some trim to cover the gap created by any standard double-DIN HU.
