In-dash Video Receivers. How to get Steering Wheel controls

Do i need to buy something additional to get my steering wheel controls to operate with my aftermarket in-dash? I don't want to get a aftermarket stereo and it doesn't work with my steering wheel volume & track changing capabilities.

I was going to order a 7" screen but i am having major problems finding a dash kit for some reason. So i just stopped looking and said eff it and now im concentrating on the 6.1 stock size. If anyone has some links to the dash kit i can open up my search a lot more. Otherwise my main concern is the steering wheel functions.

Thank you.

The dash kit is easiest found online. Both these kits will fit 7" screens.

Metra part# - 99-7011 - http://metraonline.com/part/99-7011

Scosche Part# - MI3019B - http://www.scosche.com/car-audio/ins...kt-dbl-din-kit

There is also the JDM kit, but im not sure where to find it.

Retain Steering wheel controls with this - http://www.pac-audio.com/productDeta...&CategoryID=29 - Pac-Audio SWI-RC. It works with most aftermarket radios, so just don't by some cheap
Chinese **** and you'll be fine.

EDIT: While there are other options for steering wheel control interfaces, use the one in link. The options from Axxcess and others do not work as well and fail much more often.

Hey guys, if i buy a double din do i need a dask kit if i stay with the 6.1 touchscreen size? What would i need except the harness for the steering wheel controls?

Edit: Didn't mean double din.. i meant in dash video.. What is the difference anyway?

The OEM MMCS dash panel (dash kit) is 'best'.

Any of the double din aftermarket (scosche, metra) dash kits will fit, but are poor fit/finish IMHO.

A new one 'AIG' came out and I have heard good things about that one... Sorry, I don't have a linkee...

You will also want the wiring interface harness as well.

^ seems like a hassle.. i think i would stick with the OEM dash and just buy a 6.1 screen. I just need the steering wheel control kit i am thinking... simple and easier.

PAC-SWI for the steering wheel interface.

All aftermarket radios are either single DIN or double DIN (industry standard).

The mounting brackets are ISO standard - so your OEM brackets will fit most new radios (double DIN).

All aftermarket radios will size their chassis to the Double DIN standard - so screen size is not a factor. Just get 'Double DIN'. (My screen size is 7" FWIW)

So your saying i can get a 7" screen and it would fit into the car that has a 6.1" screen? Wouldn't that be a bigger unit? How is that even going to fit.

It does. The unit is a SAE Standard 'double DIN'.

http://www.futureshop.ca/en-CA/produ.../10252919.aspx

Just make sure whatever unit you look at says double DIN.
