Those scatter light in directions it's not supposed to be. They don't use the optics provided by the factory very well.

These are really cool- never actually thought about it until now. Have you had a chance to drive in some heavy snow or foggy conditions yet?

I got a set off of eBay last year and while I love that they match the factory headlight color, they light output is kinda all over the place. I don't think I'm blinding anyone when they're on but they aren't nearly as good in the fog/rain. I just use them as aux lighting on side roads since I don't think fog lights make a huge difference. Especially when I can just lower the HID beam.

Ok finally had a chance to install and take some pictures. On the first note i had to loosen the front bumper to get them in on the driver side as the bulb and the heatsink are to long and was hitting the cooler. These are a 6000k and my Osrams are a 5500k i don't like the different colors TBH. Second note they do scatter some light but not a ton but the side pattern is nice and wide. I tried to take the pictures in the same spots so you can see the difference

and If anyone know's of a step by step to change out my 35w ballast to the 50 or 55w ballast that would be great

The factory projectors are crap anyways. The fog light color output looks good. You should get 6000K for the headlights too.

was thinking the same thing, but i just got these Osram cbi 5500k's and they were a good chunk of change .... what to do what to do
was going to try and do a ballast swap from the 35w to the 50w but dont really feel like hacking the harness up, just in case something happens as im still under the factory warranty .

I think the joke is on you if you believe that Diode Dynamics is doing anything other than slapping a label on a Chinese mass-produced LED unit. What you're paying for is customer service and warranty. I doubt the are "knock offs" so much as the identical product without warranty or support.

Not a huge fan of people playing lighting engineer in their spare time. Fog lights are designed so that they don't illuminate all the fog around you, blinding everyone else. They aren't meant to fill in gaps in your headlight. No wonder every other car blinds me at night. Nonsense like this.
