Hey! This is my first post and I was wondering if anyone knew about what kind of terminal goes to the MAF (Mass Air Flow) sensor. I was driving on the highway and my car kept stuttering while I had a constant speed but If I accelerate, my car goes fine like it had no problems. I looked over possible problems, like my spark plugs which were really filthy for some reason.. Replaced them but it changed nothing. Looked over the MAF sensor and noticed that it broke off due to corrosion. I want to do a clean job, I want to just use a new terminal inside the connector, easy fix right? It would be easy, but I have no idea what kind of terminal it is after no one talked about terminals, so I wanted to make a thread about it so future owners if they happen to have the same problem as me! If anyone finds what kind of terminal this is it would mean a lot, Thanks! Spark plugs that were corroded
Mitsubishi lancer 2012 ES, MAF sensor code: mr985187 This is the terminal This is the connector
You could check with a dealer to see if they can get that connector and pins.
If that doesn't work out, I would probably buy a pigtail from a part out and some weatherpack connectors and just add a connector between the new MAF pigtail and the original harness.
Hey Schuhie! I've contacted the dealer but sadly they have no idea what kind of connector nor terminal it is. I've cut the connector from a crashed lancer 2012 and soldered the ground cable which had the terminal to the original ground cable, then put back a heat shrink to look oem. Since then I have no issue with the car. Thanks for the input! This is how it looks now!
This is the cable I've cut from the scrap yard

Glad to hear it is working! That's great news!
My only comment would be that solder under the hood may or may not be the best idea depending on what solder was used and what not.
I would get a 4 pin weatherpack connector and pins then crimp it all together with a separate plug on there. This should be more reliable that solder long term.
Something like this,
Your right, solder could of caused damage under the hood. I made sure to hide the heat from other components. I've used tin lead 1.2mm and a Milwaukee soldering iron. The weatherpack is a great idea, If I'd be doing it again I would for sure do that! My only concern is how many voltage could I lose by using another connector since the MAF sensor uses a small voltage, could it change the reading? Would the weatherpack terminal fit with the MAF pins tho?
