I had a mechanic look at my evo and he said that the MAF sensor on the intake may be bad and could be my reason why it is running a little ruff. Could this be true? What are some signs of a bad MAF sensor?

When was the last time that you installed gapped, fresh plugs?

 

in june when I got it tuned. We checked the plugs, they r good

 

Bad MAF, runs rich, get MAF cleaner first.

 

Where can I get that at? MAF cleaner

 

I think Pep Boys, or Autozone. It is called "CNC"? MAF cleaner. Red can i believe. Get that, not other junk! Sorry for the late reply! Good luck, and keep us posted.

Cool I will go check that out. What I mean by rough is it jerks at times. It has done it when im cruisin at 30mph. 1-3rd gear is when it happens the most. It rides as if my plugs were bad but they are basically brand new. They were installed in June while it was getting tuned.

 

Pull your plugs and check them out...just cause they are new doesn't necessarily mean they are good.

And electrical parts cleaner or "Contact" cleaner will work. Even brake cleaner works.

What is the sign that the MAF is dirty? I have timing issues due to the MAF it seems, but it looks clean when i look into it....Signs of dirty MAF?

 

Yea thats a good question, what is a sign of a dirty maf?

 

You pull it out, look at it and see grime/dirt on the sensor....

Driving signs are hesitation, spotty idle and possibly many other things.
