How Is This Possible?

I had my car tuned by AMS a couple of months ago and i made 336 hp. I was reading a thread today and a kid who went to ICS (Big AL) with just a cat back and ic pipes made the same hp as me on the same kind of dyno?

I had the following Mods:

Full down pipe back straight exhaust NO Cat
UPICP
LICP
AMS Intake
MBC
AEM Meth 50/50 Mix
EcuTek Custom Tune By AMS

My Chart:

His Chart:

Is there something im missing? They were done on the same dyno, using the same tuning software. I was spraying meth and was running 27 lbs of boost. Im not whining, im confused about the results.

You should definitely be making more power with those mods, especially on a dynojet.

Your car definitely breathes better, but your bottle neck is your exhaust. IMO

I made about the exact same as you did at ams with the same mods, so the numbers are right. Just like alot of post say dont compare your car with someone else, dyno's, air temp, some cars run alittle different power. Look at it like this, your running about 100 awhp more than what stock gsr shows on there dyno stock.

Why would my exhaust be my bottle neck? Its all straight pipes? I would think running a cat and a muffler would be more of a bottle neck?

I agree not to compare your car to another, but the numbers are so different, ya know. I mean look @ DG Motors they made 100 AWHP with just a intake and a cat back ?!? https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...ne-100whp.html

I think he didn't read your mod list. Your exhaust isn't a restriction

Honestly it sounds like your tune is too conservative. You could easily be safely running 12.0-12.2 AFR with a decent shot of methanol. If you're still dipping into the high 10's anywhere, that could be your extra power. Methanol injection allows you to safely run leaner AFR's because if its cooling properties. Plus you need to subtract a bit of fuel while it is spraying in order to see any actual power gains from the injection. Otherwise, it just richens up your mixture, enough on an Evo X to cause 9.x AFR's and bogging. I know AMS knows what they're doing, but they also don't want to be held liable for you blowing anything up if you run out of methanol. Does the AEM have any failsafes built in?

You cant technically determine that you arent making enough power. You wont know unless you find that cars baseline on Al's dyno. For all you know he prob baselined 250 which is higher reading and made it to 340 while you baselined 222 pretty standard reading on the X and made it to 336. Dyno #'s arent a worry, its the gain you make is what counts. Either way you both increased 100 awhp.

Did anyone else realize that the OP has an MR? Is that an MR that you're comparing to?

Very good point. The other car is a GSR.

You need a retune for sure! I would think your car with 50/50 meth should put down more power.
