Read CEL code with Tactrix?

Can I read CEL codes using Tactrix cable. What sofware do I need for that.
Sorry, if this has been discussed, I couldn't find any topic on this.

You can clear DTC codes with ecuflash. You can not read them at this point in time.

I haven't done it yet, but I was under the impression that PCMScan could read them.

It has the option to "Read and Clear Diagnostic Trouble Codes", so I imagine that will do the trick.

Does PCMScan work with Open Port? I didn't find any mentioning of it on their site.

Yes...it works. The cable type needs to be changed to J something or other in the options.

It's 'J2534'. And out of curiosity, does anyone know if the PCMScan trial version allows to read and/or clear codes?

As a note, if you have a Harbor Freight nearby you can grab a ODB II CAN code reader for $32. It's on sale, and there's a 20% coupon floating around. I picked one up to use the other day and was very impressed for the price.

Was that with the standard Tactrix cable or the OpenPort 2.0 USB Tactrix cable?

I take that it won't work with the 1.3 cable?

Hey man I've got to grab a code reader and was thinking about grabbing this one or maybe a better one from Harbor Freight. Just wondering how it's served ya? Just looking to read basic check engine light codes on various OBDII cars.

Any idea where to grab the coupon?

Thanks.
