I think the flame issue is related to negative timing of some sort... I have logged my car throwing negative timing between shifts and I can hear a loud pop when it happens. I personally want to give rid of it because its annoying and cops aren't going to like it very much if it happens at the wrong time.

yea you can either tune it in or out. some people like it, others don't. it's in the timing table, the cells near redline and very low load I believe.

I have a 2011 and the timing map is normal looking. I think it may have something to do with the Max minimum timing tables that are available.

Will be nice to be throwing flames, in the Subaru world the only cars doing it were STIs running 4" test pipe TBEs. My completely catless 3" TBE in my WRX wasn't enough

That was my essentially stock car (HKS Hi-Power CBE with the stock cat) shooting flames while I was getting tuned. When this happened, as you can tell, there was no loud BANG BANG sound like most of you have.

something was off then...my 09' WRX w/ the SPT catback and invidia catless downpipe would shoot a 12" flame out of each pipe on shifts lol

What is it exactly that causes flames to shoot out of the exhaust?
