Downshifting the X and going into Limp Mode

As the title reads I was driving home tonight doing about 55 and got stuck behind someone driving real slow so I down shift and hit the gas to get around them and car went into limp mode...pulled over shut it off and turned it back on and went back to normal. CEL is still on but the car is runing fine so basically just wanted to know how many guys have had the same problem with their Evo X. My friend at work has an X and he has had his car go into limp mode about 4 times already so just wanna know if its a common accurance or not. If there is already a thread about this situation then if someone can point me in the direction of it I would be much appreciated.

I'm going to guess it's a p1235 from an overboost. Go to your local autoparts store and borrow their OBD scanner to pull the code. And the solution to yours and your friend's throwing codes is to have the cars properly tuned.

No... I've had mine for almost 6 months/5k miles. Have not put it into limp mode or thrown a CEL. I am running Cobb AP stg 1/93 map with HKS panel filter. No other mods.

Full Perrin Stage III for me - I've never once had that happen. The only time I saw a CEL was when I blew a coupler off. I tracked my car pretty hard for a session a few weeks ago, no CELs then. Good times.

If you have a stock tune, get a Cobb and Stage I. If you have a custom tune, take it to someone who can tune better.
