problems tuning fpred

car: 2008 EDM X RS
mods: ams intake, fmic+ piping, o2, dp and tbe. vta bov , walbro, dw 800cc, greddy profec
history: intially tuned with ecutek, then later by ecuflash.

the trims are -4.9 Low and -5.7 Mid. lean spool is disabled, but who knows since the stationary rev limit can't even be changed.

problems:
1)check engine light on (supposedly because rear o2 disconnected for wafr).
2)extremely lazy spool. 12psi by 3800 then slowly to target by 7400rpm (25psi). this is regardless of ebc setting or no boost controller at all (23psi).
3)inconsistent afr's from pull to pull (as much as .7) with no changes made.
4)stationary rev limiter can't be moved from 5500 rpm regardless of changing it in ecuflash.

is this type of boost curve characteristic of the X fpred. if not what could be causing it? is there a semi limp mode . below is a 3rd gear pull. afr's are not dialed in yet.

*log says loadcalc, but you know it's not (just to make evoscan maptrace work).

Maybe it's defective? See if you can get a exchange for it. Better yet, get the Blouch Dominator Turbo.

yeah thats a thought..hoping for more insight than that though. maybe logging it with the actuator hose disconnected might reveal a defect (if it still exhibits slowish spool even with the waste gate shut)

It almost seems like there is a massive boost leak and it gradually over comes the leak as the RPM goes up due to more air volume. So you're only making 20 psi but your turbo is working just as hard as making 30+ psi.

yes forgot to say there is no boost leak whatsoever. held 20psi solid when we did the test. actually one of the best holding tests i ever did

Then it seems like the wastegate is stuck open for some reason.

thats also another thought. crcain suggested maybe we should pull the dp/02 and apply some compressed air to the actuator nipple and see exactly how well the gate is opening and shutting. lazy me was hoping just pulling the hose and logging might reveal a problem with the gate (ie boost would still be relatively lazy). we've tried two different stock actuators already.

what about it? i mean if it's not leaking (boost test) why would it be a problem at wot. we pressurized the system until the pvc cap came flying off the compressor inlet with a huge bang during the test.

Sorry missed that part.

Ok, well the turbo looks good. It's still developing about 25psi @ redline and that's about right.

How about sticking a manual boost controller on there? That should give you an idea where the problem is.

just a suggestion but is the ebc vaccue lines setup properly? what kind of ebc anyway?

as for the rev limiter this should be your answer

it's a greddy profec B-spec2. these are pretty rock solid in terms of BC. i'm quite certain the lines are setup correctly but will go over it again just to make sure. unfortunately that thread does not help my stationary rev limit problem since my romid is 503040007.
