Dangerously lean / Hesitation

So I drove my car today after almost two weeks. It all went well until maybe 30 minutes later when I decide to push it a bit just to feel the power. I thought it felt a little strange when reving to 5500. So I pushed it again noticed the car is definately hesitating. Knowing that the fuel pump relay can cause something like this to happen I pushed it while looking closely at my wideband and noticed this thing is running crazy lean 14-15 I think it even hit 16 once. I found the nearest exit and got off and parked on a side street. Using the iPhone to get on the forums I found a picture which shows which relays should be switched. I switched it and the problem still there, so I drove the car home. When I get home I take out the original fuel pump relay and shake it, and it definitely has some loose parts inside. I tried another relay this time the high beam relay and went out for a spin. Same problem, now I'm thinking maybe this car has that random knock issue that's been showing up in these cars recently. However I have no way to confirm that with out the tactrix cables. The timing couldn't be worse since I'm going to be needing the car because the wife got a new job so she'll be using the other vehicle starting tomorrow. Any suggestions?

the symptoms sound a lot like when the fuel pressure regulator vac hose pops off of the intake manifold. You can check that faster than it takes to open the hood.

Yep sounds like the vacuum hose. If it's idling rough and when you gun it it's hesitating it's most likely that vacuum hose next to the oil dipstick. They didn't put a clamp on it and it will jump right off when you push your car. A lot of people used a zip tie to secure it.

Mine did the exact same thing.

I just went outside and check and you guys were right. The damn hose popped off, I zip tied that sucker and went for a spin. The car is now back to normal. Funny thing is, before I drove the car today I checked the oil to see if it was still good and I checked that line to make sure it didn't come off. I really appreciate the help guys thanks. The information here is priceless.

Whew! Glad everything turned out okay. I check my oil at every fill-up and I've started checking this hose when I'm in there as well. And good thing for the WB gauge. Another case of the mysterious knock problem would have me worried; what some of those guys have been going through is ridiculous.

Yeah man, I'm glad it was a quick fix. I was a little scared it was that phantom knock issue that's going around. There's guys that have had it for months with no resolution .
