Cobb AP: Fuel Economy Map
Cobb AP: Fuel Economy Map
I am planning on getting the Cobb AP for my stock Evo X. I had a question for those of you who are stock and running the Cobb AP with the Fuel Economy Map, what kind of mpg have you received? Noticeable difference? Driving experience?
I don't know if anyone has tested this on a stock Evo however I do believe that people have had fairly good results with that map, it could also be the different mods made a difference too. I do hope someone with more knowledge can chime in...
I understand that it lowers boost considerably and if I was running on the fuel economy map traveling long distance highway or city driving would there be a large difference in mpg; the performance is not too much of an issue if I decide to use the map.
I've asked several people about it, but there are people who are increasing their timing and getting better MPG.
I have tried in summer Stage1 93 (no WOT, just cruising) on one way (100 miles) and Economy map on the way back and I had better results with Stage1 map. I do not remember the number but I remember it was so dissapointing that I decided not to use the economy map any more.

if you run the economy map make sure that you run GOOD gas. Guy locally with an STi got bad gas on the economy map and blew his motor. Cause? Correlation? Who knows. Just my experience. When I had my AP I never used the economy map.
If I had to guess, I'd say the economy map probably tries to run more timing and less boost than stock. If you get bad gas, maybe on the STi it knocked too much. Just a wild guess...
This might be part of this post. But I was reading in the other evo forums and they mentioned about a Mitsu ecu flash which gave them better fuel economy. from 24-25 on local and 28.9 on highway and it was covered in there warrenty. So, I was wondering if anyone in this forum tried it out? Well, it's not like the 2010 X is a gas saver now. haha
I wonder if all Mistu dealerships has the new flash map for our cars?

That would require a custom tune and I am going to wait till I have more mods before I decide to do that. I would rather drive with the Cobb AP for the maps it comes with and was just wondering what kind of results anyone stock or close to it without a custom tune has been getting with the stock Cobb maps; i.e. the fuel economy map.
