Timing and Load Questions

Got two questions. The numbers for timing, is that in degrees? Also is it BTDC or ATDC?

And for Load, I know it correlates to kPa but does anyone know the actual equation for the correlation? I'm guessing 100 is absolute, 14 psi?

Timing is in degrees, should be BTDC.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ignition_timing

Engine Load is typically 30-50% for cruising at speed with offboost acceleration between 50-100%. You should start seeing boost at 100% and above, with the stock setup 150% load was about 10 psi and 200% load was about 20 psi but it can vary by flow and rpm of course so those are rough numbers. Once you modify the car sigificantly the scaling will be a bit different once in boost since it's more related to airflow through the engine so that the car can deliver the correct amount of fuel based on the tune.

It would be neat to see the actual formula for how load is calculated, although it will likely be somewhat complex.

Oh so 100% Load isn't necessarily 14.7 psi? All depends on how much you are boosting?

100% load is usually ~0 psi or 14.7 psi absolute or zero vacuum for a non-boosted car but since we have boost the scale goes up after that.
