Tactrix Cable Problem

So I finally must have kicked the USB cable that plugs into the bottom of the Tactrix box and tweaked the mini USB plug bad enough that I didn't want to risk using it and corrupting my ROMs.

Does anyone know if it is a standard mini-USB to USB cable? I tried using the cable I had for my Canon camera and I got an error when trying to load the drivers on my new laptop. When I download my ROM, ECU Flash doesn't recognize the ROM format and can't display it......

Do I have to get a new USB cable from Tactrix or should any standard cable work? I've never used this laptop with ECU Flash so I'm not sure if it's the cable or the ECU Flash software install on the new laptop.

Thanks

A standard cable should work.

Double check the plug on the dongle itself. You may have damaged it some how.

Also, you can pop the OBD plug out of it's holder and re-mount it with zip ties at a 90 degree angle. That's what I did, as my Tactrix 2.0 cable sits in the car 24/7.

When I read my ROM everything seems to work correctly and I get a message saying "Read was Successful" but then I get another dialog box that pops up and says "EcuFlash could not recognize this ROM image using any of the current definitions."

I just had my car tuned and GST installed the new Tephra Mods. Could it be that I need a newer version of EcuFlash to recognize the ROM??

You need the XML for the TephraMod located here

Put that in your Evo XML directory, should be a path similar to this:

OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\mitsubishi\evo

Thanks guys. I got the Tephra XML definition in the rommettadata file and everything reads fine now but I can't see any of the maps. I think I need the 52680022 base "parent" XML file that TephraXMOD-52680122 inherits from?? I think I was using 52680015 that I added Mod23 to as the parent for my old tunes. Sorry, it's been a while since I worked with this. Where can I get the 52680022 parent?

Thanks

Put this in 52680022.xml

Code:
<rom>
	<romid>
		<xmlid>52680022</xmlid>
		<internalidaddress>5002a</internalidaddress>
		<internalidhex>52680022</internalidhex>
		<make>Mitsubishi</make>
		<market>USDM</market>
		<model>Lancer</model>
		<submodel>Evolution X</submodel>
		<transmission>5MT</transmission>
		<year>2008</year>
		<flashmethod>mitsucan</flashmethod>
		<memmodel>M32186F8</memmodel>
		<checksummodule>mitsucan</checksummodule>
	</romid>

	<include>52680015</include>

</rom>

Thanks for the feedback. I still need to get 52680022 to add the above xml code to. The highest I have in my rommetadata folder is 52680020. Is there a place to get 52680022?

see how the above has </rom> at the end, so my wild gues is that he just gave you the whole file..

open notepad.. copy and paste his code from <rom> to </rom>. Save it as 52680022.xml and save it to the evo rommetadata folder.. if you need help finding that directory, its normally in C:\Program Files (x86)\OpenECU\EcuFlash\rommetadata\mitsubishi\evo\

hope that helps..

here is the 52680022.xml you should use:

Code:
<rom>
    <romid>
        <xmlid>52680022</xmlid>
        <internalidaddress>5002A</internalidaddress>
        <internalidhex>52680022</internalidhex>
        <make>Mitsubishi</make>
        <market>USDM</market>
        <model>Lancer</model>
        <submodel>Evolution X</submodel>
        <transmission>5MT</transmission>
        <year>2008</year>
        <flashmethod>mitsucan</flashmethod>
        <checksummodule>mitsucan</checksummodule>
        <memmodel>M32186F8</memmodel>
    </romid>

    <include>52680020</include>
</rom>
ill put these up in the TephraXMODs thread too

52680020 just includes 52680015. I just simplified it.

This is the only file you need. Like Hamish said, copy the whole thing into a file named 52680022.xml in the rommetadata folder.

The "include" line makes it use the files that you already have full definitions in.

Sorry to ask this, but my ROMID is 52680017, would it be as simple as replacing 52680015 with 52680017? If so, will this retain previous information (i.e., Mode23, etc)?
