Quick ?'s on buying cobb ap(searched already)
There was never much of an update to the thread considering this since it is very hard for us to get access to a MUTIII tool.
In any case, I wouldn't be concerned.
More info on this? Haven't heard anything about it before now.
Got another question. I was searching and saw that people say the maps from Perrin are better than the Cobb ones, but saw a thread on a different evo x forum where he got more torque with the Perrin but horsepower was the same. Would there be any point of me buying Perrin's Maps, or is there really a good difference where it would be worth getting?
I also need some advise for AP.. I want to get some basic bolts on for my X. It's a DD so i wont go crazy on it. I have plans to get intake, uicp, fmic, cat-back and resonated test pipe. Realisticaly, i dont have the spare money to buy everything at once and have a tune. so, my question is, is it safe to run stage one w/ intake, uicp and fmic and then switch to stage2 when i get the test pipe and cat back? Eventually, i would want to do the e-tuning but it won't be a long while.

Well my plan with it is just to make a pretty quick dd to have fun with. The cobb stage 1 already helped but since I have the cobb AP I want more maps for it. Anyone else design maps for the cobb AP that are good that offer more options or power? I still plan to get a custom tune made where I could get more power then the maps that everyone gets
I just wanted to make a quick note that I have had a few people express concern over the newly proposed flash counter/tracking mentioned above. I will be looking into it over the next few weeks to see if I can make any sense of it. For now, please take solace in the knowledge that we still have yet to get any customer reports of a dealership actually detecting an AP after uninstall.

Thank you. I read the description on the stage one ams map and it saids the map is design for only with an intake or may do harm to engine. I just want to clarify before i spend the money and later find out the need to spend More to fix it.
This is something that comes up often and it is pretty confusing. Hopefully this will clarify things:
When you install the AP, it saves the exact data from your ECU byte-by-byte. This gives us a 100% "virgin" ECU image to use for later. When you uninstall the AP, this image is put back onto the ECU, thus completely removing everything put there by the AP.
The "stock mode" map file sets the calibration tables back to their stock values. It does not remove any special programming/signatures left there by the AP. It is _only_ useful for running the car with stock calibration data (fuel, ignition, boost, etc.).
Let me know if something is still unclear.
