Quick ?'s on buying cobb ap(searched already)
I found most of the answers I wanted searching the forum and cobb's website but just looking to verify some info.
I have 08 MR, performance mods are ams exhaust and cone filter. I'm going to buy a cobb ap and saw on cobb's website it comes with many maps built in and requirements, which includes stock airbox. I plan to get a custom tune by AMS when they come to san antonio and get it saved in my cobb, but b4 that I'm gonna play with cobb's maps. I saw when reading the instructions, one step is if it should save the stock? it says you don't have to cause the cobb has the stock map already on it, so is it the exact same where the dealer won't detect something wrong? the only reason I'm buying the copp is to easily switch back to stock for dealer trips.
I'm also going to get a basic no name test pipe with my exhaust, which cobb map would i use with that, the stage 1 or 2?
Thanks

The "stock" COBB map is so you can flash the vehicle with "stock" style parameters; e.g. car drives and acts stock, without uninstalling the AccessPORT.
When initially installed, the AP saves the vehicles stock map, so once uninstalled, the same stock map is flashed back tothe ECU. Effectively, the ECU is back to its original state.

I would save the stock information. There's a difference between the stock map and "un-installing" the Cobb from your car. I believe if you put Cobb's stock map on... the dealer can still tell that the ECU was altered. However, if you uninstall it... Cobb will put the ECU back exactly the way it was before you installed the AccessPort.
I ran the stage 2 map with no problems on the stock DP for almost a year before my new tune...
Many people have logged perfect A/F ratios, etc on similar setups
This is something that comes up often and it is pretty confusing. Hopefully this will clarify things:
When you install the AP, it saves the exact data from your ECU byte-by-byte. This gives us a 100% "virgin" ECU image to use for later. When you uninstall the AP, this image is put back onto the ECU, thus completely removing everything put there by the AP.
The "stock mode" map file sets the calibration tables back to their stock values. It does not remove any special programming/signatures left there by the AP. It is _only_ useful for running the car with stock calibration data (fuel, ignition, boost, etc.).
Let me know if something is still unclear.

Yes that did clear it up Sean. I ordered by cobb today. Can't wait to get it. So when I install one of the maps I'll let it take the time to save my stock ecu and when i go to dealer i'll just uninstall the tune map. I don't mind the time it takes to go back and forth its worth it.

And besides, I'm getting a custom tune by AMS when they come pretty soon so i'll be using that with the cobb, just gonna use the cobb preprogrammed ones for fun till Chris from AMS comes. Can't wait for that. Gonna have a test pipe with my ams exhaust, custom intake, and boost pill.
Quick question, with my cone intake I have and a test pipe, would i want to switch back to stock cat and intake b4 dealer visits or is that okay to leave on? just change the tune? i know my cbe is 100% good.
