Cobb ap question

Hi I have question about Cobb ap ots maps I have dp/tp back exhaust ...and I don't have any gauges ... So is it safe to run stage 2 ots lwg map? And I use 93 oct fuel don't know if I should run 91 oct map or 93 oct map to run safe? Thanks

You should invest in a wideband and boost gauge. You can run the LWG maps with out them, but it is always safest to moniter your AFR and Boost.

You should search and read up on the AP. At least a half dozen great threads on it.

Sticky is a good place to start.

Cobb makes the OTS maps very safe for most people to run them without a problem. Flash the 93 octane map on and verify peak boost is correct (you can monitor/log with the AP), if you're over-boosting then try the LWG map.

Winter gas has more butane in it. That should up the octane a hair, but hurt fuel economy.

a few things to monitor on the ap are:

LTFT- this is a big one to watch after you change an intake. should be a low % # (0-3%ish) above 8% spells trouble

Boost- watch the AP (no need for a seperate gauge, the AP is more accurate anyways) you should follow the map notes and not peak over what the notes say. Around 24psi is a good/safe top peak.

knock retard- you should not see above 2.1 and it should only blip that high. The lower the better, as in you should see around .4 time and again as this is normal detonation. If you have a constant higher number (doesn't bounce between that number and 0, but just stays high) that is a bad sign and you will want to use the 91oct map, but still run 93oct gas.

The one thing the AP can not monitor is AFR, and you will want to get a wideband, but no rush. The cobb maps are very safe and do not really require you to monitor anything to closely. When i got dyno'd i had them connect the wideband. I was running a TBE and drop in intake flashed to stage 2 91oct. My AFR was conservative and safe.

Anyways your aftermarket DP should have a wideband bung just chillin waiting for a wideband to be installed.

Hope this info helps you.

Best thing you can do is do a custom tune unless you have the exact mods your map is calling for. I ran stage 1 and ended up running lean so I went and got me a custom tune

As others have indicated, the AccessPORT can be used as a gauge, datalogger and live data monitor. You shouldn't need gauges to ensure that you car is running properly on just a stage2 tune. However, it never hurts to have an oil temp/pressure gauge and perhaps a good quality boost gauge just for quick referencing while you are driving. Then you can always pull your logs later and see what was going on over an elapsed period of time. We use both on our racecars as the driver isn't able to look at the AccessPORT during track sessions. Although, the AP can be used as a boost gauge if you mount it on the dash!
