Do i not need tuning software to get tuned?

I have a z-chip that i want to dump....but I need to be able to reflash to stock to not void my warrenty.....does this mean i need an accessport just to reflash it back to stock, or to get a tune in general....?

you have a couple of choices:

1) get a Cobb AP, which is claimed to be able to return to stock and be undetectable - see my note at the end.

2) get a tactrix cable and ecuflash, once you or you tuner does a map you can swap maps whenever you want

3) get a pro tune and get friendly with the tuner so you can come and change maps whenever..

regarding Cobbs capability of being undetectable, i think for 99% of the dealers out there it is undetectable, however if mitsu sent your ECU away I think the jap engineers could detect it.

same goes for ECUFlash...

Isn't zchip's tuning contained within itself? I think if you just remove the whole zchip unit you should be on a stock tune...

Thanks for all the info! Just to be safe though, can't I just get a tune on my zchip? What are the problems with that?

Anyone know if I can get a zchip tuned, so I can take it off and not have any trace that will void my warranty

toss the zchip in the trash.. it was probably decent when it came out, but now there are so much better options. if you search, those few that have them cant get anything done with them. like Tephra said, either Cobb AP or Cable and Ecuflash... i myself have the tactrix cable and use Ecuflash, as do most on here.

I you REALLY want zchip then call TTP - they might be able to recommend someone local to you to tune it..

For option 2, using tactrix and flashing to stock will be undetectable aswell?

Yep, unless for some insane reason Mitsu engineers started digging in your ECU, but the chance of that happening is literally 1 in a million.

Good to know. On a side note, what program does everyone use to flash to a basemap? And where does one get said program? torrents?

ECUFlash = free (need to purchase the OP20 cable + laptop)

Cobb AP = not free but comes with everything you need
