Tuning and MPG

Any of you guys that are on a few bolt-ons and tuned, did you see an increase in your MPG when driving the car easy?

I struggle to hit 23 MPG on my stock 2012 and wondering if I tune it to lean out some, will I see a good difference in MPG? I chalk it up to a really rich factory tune.

For example, my 98 GSX with tuning was making about 330whp but when driven easy would get me 27/28 mpg. A friend's GS-T gets 31 mpg and puts down 350whp, but I think his is the exception, not the norm.

Just wondering if I am destined to be around 22/23 mpg with this car for good or if I could expect better results when driving the car easy.

AccessPORT Stage 1+ SF intake and i get about 18-20 Mixed driving. On the highway ive got 24MPG but that was a rare occurance. Granted this in my DD and this is in traffic. No big trips yet but moving to Colorado in 2 weeks so ill post an update on the mileage for that trip. I think 24MPG is not out of the question.

Thats about spot on. Im completely stock at the moment and am getting roughly 20-22 mpg mixed driving...thats driving while trying to stay out of boost most of the time. From what I've read with basic bolt ons its roughly 18-21 depending on you and other factors really.

The factory tune is rich, but you're not leaning it out by reducing fuel, you're adding air. You make more power, but at the same fuel usage at best, or burn a bit more at worst.

There was a hudge thread about mileage and tuning for better fuel efficiency about 2 years ago.

I get like 17 city and 21 hwy...my mixed is 19.2mpg. So getting 20+ sounds pretty good.
