ecu problem
ecu problem
2012 evo x with k and n filter, test pipe with resonator, invidia cat back. I went thru a puddle and ecu bricked. Check engine light, service awd,and engine overheating. No crank no start. Battery voltage good and everything dry underneath hood. Anybody with ideas of what could have gotten wet to cause this? This happend twice...Dealer replaced ecu and car drove fine til it rained and went thru small puddle. Any help greatly appreciated
Similar issue...PLEASE HELP!!!
Last night I reflashed to a new map with my AP and everything was fine for about 15 mins until the check engine light came on and the car would barely spool. So I stopped at an abandoned gas station, shut the car off and tried to restart. It would crank but not start. The fan would run and the service warnings began to cycle through every time I would turn the key. AP would no longer communicate with ECU.
I am freaking out!!!
PS I was just running a stage 1 + SF map 93 octane.

My friend just had this exact issue and I was disappointed to see that the OP didn't post a resolution. He hit an everyday puddle on the freeway and his car died, presenting the same error messages as the OP. Turned out it was the ECU fuse exactly.
Now it's time to find out what the cause may have been. Clearly something got wet, and the only electrical changes we can think of is his newly installed and tuned Grimmspeed 3 port boost controller. Have to take a look and see if it's located in a possible "splash zone."

I can only speak from 'reading my ecu' experience on this one.. I setup my laptop and ecuflash and hit the read ecu.. then the car started to kick the fans on high.. and rolling text about diff, acd, overheating... ect...
i punked out and stopped the read.. only to find the car stuck in this state. called a friend hotline.. and they didn't have any answers... only bits and pieces that i should have let the read finish.
so i went back to the car did the full read .. with the fans going 100% and rolling text on the dash. once the read was finish the car was back to normal.
i think this may be a fail-safe to keep ppl from reading the ecu.. but rereading the ECU worked in my case. i hope this helps out if any...
