launch control

2008 GSR

I am on the stock ecu and I have no launch control...is this something the tuner forgot to setup or is it turned off or what.

Is the stock ecu really a launch control or is it just a rev limiter. Will it build boost on a 6765 off the line.

I dragged the car and with no boost off the line you can imagine what my 60' times were lol

The OE "launch control" on an X GSR is a 5500-rpm two-step.

It's a fuel-cut rev limiter, not a "true" launch control. If tephra mod for X's has launch maps you can use those to add fuel and pull timing on your launch map to build more boost on the 2-step.

Is anyone else now bracing him- or herself for another worthless 5-page thread in which various people (such as snakes-something-or-other) try to tell us that the ASC button has something to do with the OE two-step?

Could mine be disabled? I could not get it to work. I held the ASC button in for a long time remembering all those thread and it would still just redline

If someone has been "inside" your ECU, then, ye, it could be disabled.

Are you saying that, with your car motionless and the clutch on the floor, you can free rev above 5500?

Absolutely....no matter what I did....ASC button held for forever and a day...car in 1st...car in N...tried everything. Car would never not just rev to redline....

Its like its no there. Previously the car was running on an AEM series 2...I had it put back to the stock ECU...it must not be setup....when I get it tuned again I will have the 2 step setup fro my situation

Then it does sound like it has been disabled.

And, please, leave the ASC button out of this conversation; it plays no role on a stock ECU.

Try putting your car in first gear then giving it a go? I know with my GSR in neutral It will rev to redline but when engaged in first gear they 5500 two step comes in.

i think it shouldn't be like that. The rev limiter should be on with 0 mph. Regardless you are in gear or not.
As far as I know thats the way it works. Based on mph count not gear selection.

Neutral revs to redline, you have to be in gear to activate 2-step/launch control.

so if you rolling let say 5mph and you in gear the two step limits the rpm?

Maybe you need a clutch in I guess. But I have no clue how the ecu knows your mt gear selection.
