Cobb ap question.
Cobb ap question.
So I picked up an ap for cheap yesterday and was planning on flashing the cobb stage 1 map onto my bone stock 2011 MR.
My question is, do I need to watch for anything like knock or are the cobb maps fairly conservative?
I'm new to the evo scene but did have an ap for my wrx so I'm familiar with them.
Anything else I should know?
Thanks.

If you have an AP and get the accesstuner race from cobb(free for personal use) there is sst tuning on it. i havent messed with it having a gsr but i still have the folders that's labeled SST on my accesstuner program.
+1 for logging. I like to test the map for a few minutes before going WOT just to be safe. That being said I haven't seen more than 1 or 2 counts of knock since running their 93 octane maps.
Load the V400/V401, and prepare for awesomeness.

mine just got worse today actually, misreporting datalogs to Virtual Dyno, crashed out, and the AP itself has a bunch of .log files in it full of squiggles and gibberish. Something about the latest firmware has just be chaos. The car runs fine, but can't tune.
Are you on the general release firmware? Try the beta update if you can. Aside from that you could rock it as a belt buckle.
What are your mods and what map are you running? In my opinion the Cobb maps are pretty conservative. You can gain an extra 10-20 whp with a custom tune, but its better to be conservative and safe. Make sure you are running a map for the exact mods mods you have. On my personal evo, the standard stage 2+ tune (turbo back exhaust and intake) would net 27 lbs of boost, which is a little too high in my opinion. I installed the LWG version, and it netted 25 lbs which is right where I wanted it. If you run something like the stage 2 tune and add an intake or intercooler, it will most likely overboost so make sure your tune matches your mods. Otherwise you will need a custom tune.

They have several maps that aren't available publicly and must be requested.
