evo x ecu problems

hey guys hopefully someone can help me my best friend has a evo x that he bought recently we fixed everything on the car when came to tune time they said they couldnt unlock the ecu to tune it any suggestions on how to unlock a ecu on evo x

There could be a lot of reasons.

I'm guessing he bought this used. If it was tuned previously, the tuner could have locked their map.

Here's some details that would help: Who's the tuner you're using right now? Who tuned the car previously? Mods? Method of tuning? etc.

yes he bought it used and we do not know the tuner cause it was in 2 different states before he purchased it and it was repoed before... is there a way to unlock the ecu or a way that a tuner can take the ecu and flash it back to stock at all?? the tuner we are uusing is Danny from Dnt tuning In orlando thanks for the help

Get your hands on a stock unmodified ROM and bench flash it. Making the cable is pretty easy, I have bench flashed my ECU about a half dozen times using the cable I built.

There are some instructions floating around on here I believe but for sure on the other forum.

Hmm any errors etc? Post the end of the log with any relevant information if it failed.

There are many very knowledgeable people on here that may respond if they could see more details.

Benchflash always works unless it had a jumper cross and burn something up. You can ship it to us and we can fix it and verify it works.
