TUTORIAL (Step-by-Step) - How to check your timing chain (Lancer 08 / Lancer CY0/CX0)
Hey guys!
I'm from Germany and owner of a Mitsubishi Lancer Sportback 1.8 (143HP). I reached the 100.000km mark and wanted to check my timing chain. (which more and more often makes problems in germany, espacially for the Ralliart and Evo)
There has already been a guy in our german Mitsubishi Forum with an completely destroyed engine (50.000km), caused by an chain which became to long. I know that the Evos have an electric indicator, which shows a fault message if the chain becomes to long. The "normal" versions don't have a sensor like this, which is the problem!
Since 2012 Mitsubishi uses an new, stronger version of the chain.
However, I created an 15min long Video which shows how you can check if your timing chain became to long and could possibly jump and damage your engine. You just need a "10mm nut and a rachet". i hope you understand what I am trying to say. Here it is:
I overtake no limit or warranty! No liability for damages which could result in the use of the shown content. You do everything on your own risk!

My video could also be useful if you have to check your valves; the way is mostly the same. If you only want to change your "ignition-candles?", you find everything you know up to 1:16min.
Have a nice day! Bye
