Missing a lot of oil.....

So i noticed my car has been losing (burning) quite a ton of oil... i know its not leaking b/c there's no oil on my garage floor or in my under tray. On ever take off i notice a bit of white smoke with a hint of blue, I do not drive my car hard, i occasionally do a on ramp pull nothing major. Any idea's on this? I thought it was signs of a turbo going out but, im not sure so that's why im asking thanks

Blue oil is not so good.

Oil on take off and or start up after parking is usually a sign of worn valve stem seals/and or valve guides.

Oil on take off on boost is usually turbo related.

Take off your upper intercooler pipe and inspect for oil, if it is more than a light film you most likely have a seal issue on the turbo. This could be PCV related (ie building up crank case pressure) If you find oil in the UICP, remove and clean the PCV and take it for a test drive. If that doesn't solve it, turbo could need an overhaul.

If there isn't oil in the UICP, get the head checked. A leak down test and compression check will give you an overall idea of rings and valve seat condition. Might be time to remove the head and have it reconditioned.

Good luck

Thanks for the reply I forgot to mention that I burn a quart every 150 miles I want to say. So this is quite frustrating. I'm not sure if I should bring it to a stealership or English racing?

The pcv is in the outlet of the rocker cover on front left hand side (looking from the front under the hood).

Remove the hose that is connected to the inlet
Manifold and and pcv outlet and the unscrew the plastic hex fitting.

Once removed, soak it
In your favourite cleaner and blow it out with some
Compressed air and dry it.

Although, with the amount of
Oil you are using, I think it
May be something a little more serious.

So i did a compression test and my results back were
cylinder 1: 155 (passenger side plug)
cylinder 2: 150
cylinder 3 140
cylinder 4 130 (closest to intake)
I then performed a wet test on #4 when adding oil the compression went up to 140. Plug #4 also was fouled with a bunch of oil.
so I've narrowed this down to a piston ring problem, or an intake valve stem seal.
has anyone dealt with this problem before? Anyone have a rough example of the cost on a project like mine.

Ya- you broke a ring land. Same cylinder, same issue for me. Time for a short block and maybe a few valves depending on what it looks like after disassembly .

Bugger. Time either for a stock short/long block or time to build something a little stouter.

Where I'm from a long motor
Is about $7k and a used stock engine about $4 k.

Budget another $1.5-2k and stick some rods and pistons in.
