CBRD Cobb Tune vs Open Source

CBRD Cobb Tune vs Open Source
So I'll be heading to CBRD this coming Friday to get a tune now that I finally have all of the basic bolt ons. I'm currently running an OTS Stage 3 map so I was just going to have the car tuned using the Cobb platform. Is there a benefit to going open source instead? Or if I choose to go the Cobb route, can I copy the map data over to Tephra's V3 when thats released? Any insight is greatly appreciated.

If you go with open source, you can sell your AP. But then you need a laptop, tactrix cable, Evoscan and Ecuflash if you want to do datalogging and anything tune related with your car. Since you already have the AP, I would keep it for now..

from the info i've gathered from every tuner i've talked to:
COBB: okay for a quick, OTS tune. also, a good tuner can work with it and do a decent job for the average guy. good enough and very simple but costs an arm and a leg, relatively speaking.
OS: far more options, super easy to use, free. a tuner can accomplish much more. better for anyone looking to make serious power or have gone farther than the basic bolt-on.

Definitely would like to hear what way you decided to go and why. I'll be having to make this same decision at the end of the season when I go see Chad for my winter upgrades.

I decided to go open source instead of Cobb, simply because I wanted to try Tephramod and all the various goodies that has. I haven't had any issues with the Cobb platform though so it's really up to you. On a side note, the whole experience was beyond what I expected. The level of professionalism is incredible, and the whole shop is breath taking. I'll be writing a nice review once I get back from the shore.

nice that you had a good experience. i'm finding less and less of those, dealing with businesses, in general, these days haha.
COBB can't compare to Open Source, once you decide you want to get more in depth and need more control over your ECU. then again, i don't think it's really meant to. it IS better than the old OTS tuning gizmos and chips from back in the day, though. at least a tuner can actually tune basic stuff with the AP.
