MIVEC by gear? Whats the theory behind it?
MIVEC by gear? Whats the theory behind it?
Whats up everyone?
i did some searching and i was wondering if anyone running the tephra V3 mod on a GSR, has messed with the mivec by gear maps? If so is there any general guidelines to which gears to switch them, and what advantages there are to doing it?
I basically have mine set to run overlap in cruise/vacuum, and a bit during spool up, then i back it off in higher rpm, higher boost areas in the map. I have a larger turbo and tube manifold, so i think i have less back pressure than a stock setup, so im messing with some overlap to create a quicker spool, but not blow out boost through the exhaust valve. ive had varying success with it, but its still a bit confusing to me.
to be clear, why would you want to have a different mivec table for different gears? i tried making a table that switches in 5th and messing with the part throttle, low load cruise cells, when the engine isnt in boost. My hope was that i could create a pumping effect that would help gas mileage, but it really didnt do anything noticeable.
Im interested if anyone has used the mivec gear feature, and if so, what was the goal in doing it, and did it work? Thanks in advance.
