Are all EBCS created equal?
AFAIK there are only two 3-port boost controllers available for our Evo X: Grimmspeed 3-port boost controller (p/n 057033) and Cobb 3-port boost controller (p/n 752750). I heard that the solenoid itself is made by the same manufacturer, so, theoretically, as long as they are new and working, they should deliver the same results.
However, from Evo X owners and professional tuners, I've heard complains that the Grimmspeed boost controller has flimsy vacuum hose fittings. Some EvoScan tuners even have a preference for the Cobb boost controller because of its better-quality fittings. If you want to keep your car for the long term, then the Cobb boost controller may be worth the extra.
By the way, tuning the Evo may change the CVN (calibration verification number) which will prevent you from passing the California state inspection.
