EVO X - Difficulty getting in to 2nd gear from 1st.
I understand you wanting to give them the benefit of the doubt. And, the tranny may very well work itself out. But, the way the dealership treated these guys is the real issue. All-new cars with all-new platforms and all-new everything will always have problems of some sort. Heck, even Lexus has problems with new cars. It's how the dealer and company deal with the customer when an issue arises. This is where Mitsu always shoots themselves in the foot.
Anyhow, I hope it all works out for the guys experiencing the "issue"...they really shouldn't have any issues on a car with a starting MSRP of $33K.

Go check out the BMW forums...45k and tons of problems: FP and Electrical gremlins.
Some BMW drivers stranded withing the first 500 miles
Think how mad you would be about that.
Maybe I'm just retarded, but I'm not following your logic. No, I don't own a BMW and never have. Yet, that's not relevant to the Evo X potentially having a transmission issue and the poor treatment these guys have received from their dealers so far. Just because a BMW might have some problems, does not mean anyone who buys an Evo X should settle for an issue just because other car companies have problems too.
No I havent owned a bmw. They don't appeal to me. It sounds like the engineers of bmw overdesigned the technology in their new bmws and don't know how to control it. Sounds like a government experiment gone bad.

stomp the clutch through the floorboard as quickly as you can before you shift. i had the same problem in my VIII before i learned that. if that doesn't work, raise the engagement point on the clutch pedal. if that doesn't work, try a stainless clutch cable and hard shifter bushings..

I believe that no matter how much you pay for a car, the dealer should warranty it. You definately do not see this type of dealer treatment from most Honda/Acura dealers.
Also dealers are simply liason's to the manufacturer. You get denied at one dealership, simply contact another dealership or MMNA.

I am simply stating that the price point of a car does not correlate with it's reliability. I made these statements b/c someone mentioned we shouldn't have these issues with a 38K car. Again, price has no direct effect on reliability. BMW, Mercedes, Jaguar, etc all have issues, some more than others.

I have the same issue with 2nd and 3rd on my X. It had the problem when I drove it off the lot. It is very intermittent. I have about 400miles on mine. I havent figured out under what conditions it does the notch. On mine...its not a grind...it is a notch. It goes into gear everytime but just has a bump sound and a little resistance. Hope this goes away quickly. I figured after I break it in I will give it another 1000 miles to see if it remedies itself before I take it in.
I test drove another car that had a similar problem. It had very low amount of miles as well. Probably less than 20.

I am learning to shift differently to avoid it. I love this car, but this is the one thing I would like to see addressed ASAP.
