I have 1500 Miles and 1st to 2nd gear is still notchy + some times grinds.

It is all the time.

I went to the dealership again last week.

Same answer. it is normal and the transmission is considered notchy..

Just try my suggestion guys. I'm telling you, the sti won't run worth a damn on anything except that extra-s from subaru. Special order from japan, and it's expensive, but it's the only stuff that will make the tranny work properly, maybe it could help the evo. It's incredible stuff. Looks crazy, too, it's kind of clear in color. Looks like liquid vaseline or something. Try it and see if it helps. It should be the same viscosity and weight, so it couldn't hurt anything. It's worth a shot. Damn, I spent all that time in the other post telling you guys this and you're too busy going, "I don't know what to do, any ideas?" Well, here's a good one. Mitsu designed a good tranny, they probably just didn't get the fluid just right, you'd be amazed how much of a difference the kind of fluid you are running can make.

Mitsu is also weird about putting non-OEM approved fluid in your car. I'm afraid if I put secret sauce in there and had a warranty claim, they'd deny service.

I will check fluid level this weekend, but I'm going to keep the stock stuff in there now.

I am getting tired of this 1-2 2-3 notch, though.

I feel you man. It's like everytime you walk up to the car, you are regretting driving it because of the problem. That's NOT good! I hope you find a solution or they recall it.

no manufacturer will void the warranty if the correct weight fluid is put it. I promise you this. I run amsoil motor oil in my car, and the sti is specified for 5w30, and I run the signature series 0w30. It's the same weight, it's just the cold temperature viscocity is different. In the case of the tranny fluid that I'm recommending, it's the same viscocity AND weight as the factory specified fluid. It's not like GM synchromesh, which is a WAY different weight than our cars are specified for, and I know people who recommend that stuff for synchro issues. I don't like it, and I wouldn't recommend going with a fluid that doesn't have the correct weight as the manufacturer recommends, but to each his own. As long as you use the correct weight, which for the tranny's on most of these cars is 75w90, it's fine. They wouldn't even have a problem doing it at the dealership for you, I guarantee. They will not and CANNOT void your warranty for doing this. If you just want to try a little, try draining out a quart or so of your stock fluid, and introduce 1 quart of the subaru extra-s. They should mix fine. Seriously, don't worry about it though. I would recommend replacing the entire contents with the extra-s, but do as you wish.

You have an EvoX right? Does YOUR car exhibit this behavior?

Noize,

Why not turn this thread into a poll and see how many EvoX owners are having issues with this?

Boostez, I like your copying the quotes from the thread where everyone was *****ing about you and taking my post out of context and using it as your signature. You're a loser. Would you lke me to use as my signature the part where you say the X can't make as much power as the IX and then agree with someone's explanation of how the X motor is more efficient, notrealizing that by that logic you just destroyed your own argument and made yourself look like a fool?

bump. this thread is standing in the way between me and an evo.

i've been thinking of waiting for the mr, but automatics are so mind numbing unless you're racing. a stick is fun just tooling around town.

but nothing is less fun than a broken 2nd gear.
