Hey guys,
Most probably know that I have continuously criticized the clutch action in the new X. I have finally taken the car to my local dealer and they didn't even test drive it. They stated that this is the third X with the same symptoms:
Draging clutch: You can feel this by having the car on a flat surface, letting it idle with your foot off the clutch pedal. Then quickly push in the clutch pedal and put the shifter into first...the car will lurch forward 1-2", you can also hear a clunk as the drivetrain is enagaged. I also tested this on a buddies X with 400 miles on it.
Crunchy gear selection of 2nd and 3rd.
The technician contacted the Mitsu tech line and was on the phone for about 30mins, when he came out I asked what they thought. He stated, I am ordering you a new Pressure plate/clutch disc, and flywheel.
I immediately asked, what are they sending, the same model or has it been revised in some way? He stated that it is the same model clutch with no revision.
So here is my question, I am scheduled to have this work done on the car, It has 3200 miles on her, should I allow this work to take place knowing that the same clutch will most likely has the same results?

^There's no adjustment on the X's clutch pedal, though. It's a fixed uptake. I don't think that that's the problem though, because the car shifts great when speed shifted and if it were a dragging clutch then it would shift worse when shifted fast. I really think it's a fluid issue, and I have almost made my decision on what I'm going to try; Redline MTL looks like it's gonna do the trick. We'll see.

I did the quick first engage today and noticed the car basically 'rocks' forward and backward an inch or so. I thought it might be subtle enough to just be the movement of the shifter and my arm itself being enough weight shifted to physically move the car, but leaving the clutch in for a while and then engaging first just as quickly does not product the same result.
so, yes, dropping the clutch and popping first quickly moves the car a little bit. but it doesn't grind in mine (warm).

Yep same symptoms. Mine never grinded, just notchy from 1-2 and 2-3. hopefully the clutch replacement will remedy it.
I do have a slight update. I called last night for a status of the car and spoke to the technician. He said he had not started on the car yet, however he did recieve numerous calls from Mitsubishi engineers as to his progress and why he has't started.
So this tells me that Mitsu is VERY interersted about the issue since engineers have called several times in one day asking for a status....thats a good thing.
