I say take it to the track first and get some good launches in. THEN get the clutch done.

Draging clutch: You can feel this by having the car on a flat surface, letting it idle with your foot off the clutch pedal. Then quickly push in the clutch pedal and put the shifter into first...the car will lurch forward 1-2", you can also hear a clunk as the drivetrain is enagaged. I also tested this on a buddies X with 400 miles on it.

Crunchy gear selection of 2nd and 3rd.

The technician contacted the Mitsu tech line and was on the phone for about 30mins, when he came out I asked what they thought. He stated, I am ordering you a new Pressure plate/clutch disc, and flywheel.

I immediately asked, what are they sending, the same model or has it been revised in some way? He stated that it is the same model clutch with no revision.

So here is my question, I am scheduled to have this work done on the car, It has 3200 miles on her, should I allow this work to take place knowing that the same clutch will most likely has the same results?

TSB Number???

The dealership recieved some type of TSB or something today (dated and released today) that they are not to service ANY Evo X's with shifting issues. The TSB/letter stated that they are aware of a hard shifting issue, especially when cold, and they are working on releasing a new tranny fluid to resolve the issue.

I asked about the clutch draging and they stated, they have to try the fluid change first, WHEN IT"S RELEASED. I wonder how ong that will take.

So there you have it folks....apparently mitsu is aware. I will try to get more info.
Hey, can you ask your service dept to provide you the TSB number, because my guy here in pittsburgh says he doesn't see anything of that sort. Make sure you are not being bul****ted by the dealer.

I was the first: https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/sh...d.php?t=343798 Mine had actually started slipping and they did replace the clutch and fly wheel. The flywheel was burnt blue, and the clutch was nice and purple. The dowels that align the assembly and flywheel, were cooked in and they couldn't remove them, and the clutch assembly catch, took 3 hours to removed it was so cooked.
My clutch, after replacement felt different then my clutch did originally. I'm not certain, nor can I guarantee you that it won't happen again, but after the re-install, my clutch felt different than the original did new. Its lighter/softer. I'm thinking maybe it was an original assembly problem, but I may be wrong. Mine went out at 2700 miles, I've only put on 150 miles or so since replacement, but if it happens again, they'll have to replace it again. I drive good and there was nothing I did to tear up the clutch, and if it happens again, it won't be my fault, so either they'll get it right, or they'll keep fixing it. And next time, they'll be giving me a better rental/loaner.
