Lost most of my boost.

So I woke up the other morning and jump in my car to head to work and my car has no power. The CEL came on, which is not abnormal since my MBC was installed, and it hurt to drive the thing . My boost gauge showed it maxing out at like 10psi in first gear. I figure since I just put an MBC on not too long ago that one of the vacuum lines could have come off.

I get to work and pop the hood. After confirming that all the vacuum lines were in fact all connected I happened to notice this black goop on the cover over the turbo. I look right above it and there is a wire that runs along the large cross member bar with zip ties. This came from the factory exactly like this might I add
This wire has a plastic shielding around it which had melted and dripped down onto the turbo shield. Apparently this was shorting out and causing my car to perhaps go into what I have read as limp mode, correct me if I am wrong. I will grab a pic and post up when I go out to lunch. Once I separated this wire from the cross member the car is fine. This was not a fluke as this happened again this morning. I am going to come up with a temporary fix today until I can get into the dealer.

Well, you better go find it before your neighbors try and steal it!

That's limp mode. Do you have OBD II reader? Can you let us know what code is shows? I had MBC on my car, but I had to take it off because it kept throwing P1234 & P0223.

What factory options does your car have? I don't rememeber seeing that wiring on my no option GSR.

Quite frankly, that was a really stupid place for Mitsubishi to put wiring. Directly above the hottest item in the entire vehicle...

I don't think that my SSS evo X has that wire there either. I'll go check. Something sounds fishy. I wonder if some stupid tech routed that there because he disconnected it from where it was supposed to go and couldn't remember where it went. Did you install your MBC or let someone else, because that isn't supposed to be there.
EDIT: I JUST CHECKED AND MY STRUT BAR HAS NO WIRE OR ZIP TIE. SOMETHING'S STRANGE WITH YOUR'S. WHAT IS THAT WIRE FOR, DO YOU KNOW?

OH!!!

Thanks for the comparison check. Did not think of this. That must be a sensor for my alarm!!! Ok cool I will bring it to my alarm shop instead and have them reshield and reroute it. Thanks! But yes dumb place to route a wire. Its like running a wire through fireplace
