Which oil to use?

Mobil Oils website recommends 10w30 yet the car comes stock with 5w30. Which should I use?

I only used 5w in my Evo when it was really cold. Since it never gets THAT cold here, I stick with 10w.

VIII's and IX's come with 10W-30 X's come with 5W-30. I usually stick with what the factory fill is.

From what I've read 5w30 and 10w30 are pretty much interchangeable as long as you don't live in an area that gets bellow 0 degrees C.

Yeah, considering that royal purple was the only brand of motor oil that when tested by an independent lab, FAILED every single test. It also had the worst four ball wear test of ANY oil tested when even some of the cheapest oils tested passed at half the price. There are also tests from a different independant lab comparing various transmission oils from mobil 1, castrol gtx, redline, torco, royal purple, amsoil and a few others.

Yet again, royal purple was the ONLY tranny fluid to FAIL EVERY SINGLE TEST, providing inadequate protection in cold temps, hot temps, it sheared off at pathetic heat levels, and is just plain garbage. I would rather bag up my own feces and mix it with some water and use that than use royal purple. AMSOIL is one of the only oils to pass all tests, and was by far the highest scoring of all of them. It's the best quality lubricant supplier on the market, period. To the OP, use AMSOIL 0W30signature series oil. It's about the best oil money can buy. Royal Purple FTL!
