WORKS High-Flow Drop-In Air Filter vs AMS CAI?

Those that have put in the WORKS High-Flow Drop-In Air Filter in their X how much HP do you get and does it improve the sound of the BOV and Turbo? If this doesn't improve the sound of the BOV I'm really considering going with AMS's CAI.

The CAI will improve the sound of the bov and turbo by a lot.. And the works drop in will make the bov to be heard but not too loud. I tried a cone filter and I got rid of it. So I bought the works drop in. And I love it! Also idk about the gains since I slapped on other parts @ the same time.

Glad to see you are modding the evo man! Bring it by sometime!

Yeah I have a WORKS drop-in filter and can hear stock BOV pretty good. Don't know about the gains though....... might find out this weekend if I am able to get out to our local dyno day.

Awesome, that's what I'm looking to hear. I'm not really ready to make huge changes to my car yet that will void my warranty at this time, so this drop-in may work will for me. Post your numbers when you have it... I'm carious to see how much a simple drop-in like this gives the X.

Which AMS CAI did you get? There's one that uses the oil catch can and the other incorporates bungs on the intake pipe. If I were to go with this I wonder which is best for the X.

The Oil Catch Can is the way to go.

Janvin has a catch can in his signature, so I imagine that they went that way as well.

I haven't done it yet, but I'm looking very hard, deciding which I want. I've decided that the intake is the way to go, I'm just stuck between the AMS, AGP and the JNZtuning one.

Those with the WORKS drop-in how often do you have to clean the inside of the intake to prevent the oil from sticking onto the MAF? This is the only thing I worry about when getting filters that uses oil. Anyone with bad experience?

I made 9whp from the Works filter when comparing the best stock run to the best filter run. The results on the paper filter were more consistent. I will not run a CAI. Stock airbox for the win.

Stock airbox for me here as well. I'm contemplating between a couple of the drop-in options: Works, K&N (when available), etc..

I ordered the HKS drop-in. I'll have some dyno's with it in a couple months or so as my personal baseline. WORKS wanted alot of money for their drop in... and oddly claimed 27whp or something like that for just a drop in.

I'll eventually get one of the CAI"s that will be out within a year or so. But a simple drop in is ust a cheap mod that'll give me a little more throttle responce.

Keep us posted with your HKS drop-in dyno numbers when you have it.
