Strangest thing happened to me. I know in some of my other cars the fan or something of that sort will keep running to cool the engine when you shut the car off. But today when I parked it, something like a fan or something (somewhat loud), kept going for over 20 mins. Eventually decided to turn the car on, and then off and it shut off. Any ideas?

 

Umm...if I had to guess, it is probably your fan is cooling down the turbo.

 

The main relay should have clicked off after a set period (dunno what it is on the X). Maybe it got stuck or it got cycled twice and stayed on?

 

The Evo X keeps the fans on after you shut the car off, when the car is driven hard or is hot. It is normal and a built in feature, don't worry about it.

ahh cool, thanks guys. It just seemed odd cause all I did was move the car from one parking spot to the other and it was about 20 mins (went into the house and such and came out). Thanks again for the advice.

 

The fans stayed on just from you moving the car to another parking spot? Usually they'll only kick on if you push the engine pretty hard (i.e. lots of boosting).

 

yeah that was the odd thing. I had driven the car home (about 20 miles very easy) and then parked it on the street since my driveway was full. Went in the house for about 30 mins and came back out and moved it no more than 50 feet.

 

Not a big deal for it to stay on. I almost wish mine did that even when it wasnt uber hot.

 

yeah, i don't think it should have turned on, especially for that long. I guess your car wanted to see you again or wished you wouldve driven more?

 

After you cut the engine off the fans are only suppost to be on for 3 mins. No longer. 20 mins is crazy. i dunno.

 

ill call the dealer just incase and report back. Ill also keep an eye out on it to see if it happens again.
