So what I would do is go have the alignment checked. If you went over a "slight" slope with the tire, that was high enough to damage the bumper which is like five inches above the grouund, I'd be starting with the alignment check.

100% of every steering wheel I've ever seen has splined hub which fits onto a splined steering shaft. I seriously doubt the torque value of the nut holding the steering wheel on is making any difference. However, I have not removed the steering wheel in my car, so maybe Mitsu implemented a stupid design and I just don't know it.

This is your dealer to blame.

All cars are shipped with the tires over-inflated to avoid flatspots.

When your dealer does a "walk around prep" they are supposed to set the tires at the adequate pressure.

well dude you got to get a torque wrench and check it out....if you look back in that how-to for blue tooth in the how to section..it tells you the torque(you really need to invest in a torque wrench if you plan on doing just about anything to your car).

EVERYONE.....remember he said that all this started AFTER he took off the steering wheel for the blue tooth upgrade not before

Thanks for the ideas people.

I'm doing the following tomorrow to fix the problem.
-Tighten nut using torque wrench. Set to 33 ft-lbs (factory spec.)
-Get alignment.

I'll see what happens and will update with the fix.

10 bucks says:

He reports back tomorrow that the problem is fixed.... even though he actually did nothing to rectify the situation.

Thanks for your opinion.

So I had it over-torqued to 44 ft-lbs; I set it to 33 ft-lbs. I think part of it was paranoia that I messed it up when I opened the steering wheel. Part of it is that I'm already used to the power and handling like you mentioned CC16.

So let me get this straight, there was really nothing wrong at all, that you were just being paranoid and thought that MAYBE you screwed up the install and that you couldn't remember if the steering felt sharper before or not? Good lord man.
