Cool Shopping for camshafts

Has anyone replaced their camshafts on the Evo X yet? I'm looking to try 264s (Evo 8) again if 272s will give me idling issues (reported on older Evos). I plan on going with JUN or HKS.....

uh, 272's wont give idling issues if tuned right. I run 280's on a stock ECU just fine. (Evo 8)

Don't forget that you now have MIVEK on both cams. Without MIVEK I know the GSC's tended to lope a little too much for my liking, but on the IX's it idled like stock. I'm sure the X will be the same way.

By the way, you're talking about durations on X cams... What is the duration and lift of a stock X cam???

280s on stock ECU? Where'd you go to get that done? I wonder if the 4B11 will have any issues seeing that it's a whole different beast then the 4G63?

I dont think anyone has even got the cam shafts in stock yet to try, other then... JUN in Japan (which some vendors have on the boat) ,
HKS in Japan... as far as I know GSC has cams in development in some guys car in Puerto Rico, and Cosworth has nothing released yet....

So I think we are a ways off from seeing something that either works, or doesnt... Jun would probably be the best bet... we will know in about 7-8 weeks

I think the majority of the people are going to run either straight 272's or 280's... and in my honest opinion, the gains should be really decent ( i dont know if they will be as decent as the 8/9's with cams) but other mods have produced loads of power so far on the X... ...

Did you get the cams installed there? and then have it tuned? Or did you do the labor yourself and then get everything set up? Just trying to figure out which path to go....they have mechanics here to install the cams but then I don't know if the car is driveable afterwards "two states" over to get to AMS.

Not San Diego, South Dakota (red-neck ville man.....) Check out the location. Closest thing to me is Colorado or two states over roughly AMS (Illnois).......

I actually had them installed and i didnt get tuned for 2 weeks. It drove ok kind of lumpy. I would die out here and there.

Safest bet would be to get a email flash if you have a flash cord and get your ecu tunned aliitle by someone like jester or 4ws. both have previous maps from other customers with 280s. atleast this will point you in the right direction [plus youll feel more safe driving to ams or where you want to get tuned.

Sounds good. Thanks dude. I might end up going to AMS to get the cams installed and get a tune there as well. 272s should be good enough for any weekend circuit warrior type dealio.
