a 3 inch pipe,is a 3 inch pipe(just have it made as straight as possible)....some muffler shops use Magnaflow mufflers, same as most of the evo X and CT9 exhaust ive seen

my friend has a ultimate racing Exhaust for his X,and it looks like i could have made it,i doubt too much R&D went into it

^ I totally agree with you. Compare an UR exhaust to an HKS exhaust.

It's just like the ebay exhaust vs brand name VIII and IX arguments that come up. Sure they both make power, but don't try to tell me that ebay exhausts are perfect. They rub on the transfer case, they rub on the ACD, they stick out way too far, etc... HKS, Greddy, ARC exhausts do not do this. They fit perfectly and look like they were made professionally. The real argument is whether or not they are worth the money for you.

I'm not claiming the name brand systems aren't great, just curious why this doesn't seem to be an option you see most people talking about. Thanks for any input,
Good luck finding someone from a local muffler shop that will pass up the easy money from the cars off the street to take hours welding up a custom job for you, that follows the rights bends, hangers etc. When all that’s done, it’s bound to have some clearance issues, rattles etc and the sound is going to be a crapshoot. It’s likely going to require some comebacks to fix minor (or major) issues. If you do find someone willing to do it, it’s going to cost you almost as much as an off the shelf product. I doubt you will save more than maybe a hundred bucks or so. But, the risk of it not being exactly what you wanted is big and they are very unlikely to give you money back. With all the options out there, why take the chance?
