meineke/midas custom exhausts?
just curious if anyone has any experience with an exhaust system from either of these companies. i want to save a bit of money, and both places are apparently outfitted to bend pipes and what not to fit whatever make.
i'm not looking for anything loud, which is why i figure i might have better luck there(pick out a nice quiet muffler).

hmmmmm i would say be careful and make sure they know what they are doing before letting them work on your car. most places like that want to charge you big $$$$$$ because they think they're doing a super custom job. best bet is to ask people around your area.

well, i called up both places today and they both said they got nothing for the lancer. which i find weird because all you really need is a bender and some piping, and any universal muffler will fit.
guess i'll go with the magnaflow cat back system, unless some one else has a better recommendation: i'm going the anti-rice route here, i want it pretty quiet, only a tad louder than stock.

I had my catback done at a local shop. They do a lot of custom work and they put 2.5" pipe back to a universal aluminized steel Magnaflow with a double-walled polished stainless tip. They did all the bending themselves and double-welded and it took about an hour, sounds SOOOOO awesome, not too loud, just deep, and smooth
and charged me only $292. I found them on Magnaflow.com as an authorized seller/installer of magnaflow mufflers. Try that out.

i looked them up, and there are 3 magnaflow places in my area. i'll give them a call tomorrow and see if they can do it for me. i would figure so, since all 3 places brag about "custom peformance exhaust".
just a few questions before i go out and buy one: just how loud is the magnaflow? like i said, i want something really quiet, and definately not ricey. i just hate the people that throw a super loud exhaust system on there otherwise stock ford escort and think they are all pimp, so I want mine subtle
also, what size pipes should I get? i'm putting on an injen sri soon, and throttle body after that. at the most, i will be replacing intake manifold, headers, and possibly the cats with some hi flow cats. but no turbo in my future, so would 2.5" be good? or smaller?
GreenPhycho: I hate the loud mufflers too like the Flowmasters all the Hondas here use. My exhaust isn't loud at all. A little louder than stock, but it sounds very clean and smooth. Even when you hit the gas, its nice, never loud and annoying and everyone rolls theirs eyes when they hear it (like a Honda). If you get the pipe Mandrel bent, 2.25" is perfect, since its the same diameter all they down the pipe. Since most local shops can't afford the machine to mandrel bend pipe ($500,000) they pressure bend it which actually shrinks the diameter. 2.25" pipe pressure bent becomes less than 2" at the bend. So thats why I went with 2.5" pipe, so my bends were closer to 2.25". Glad that the site was able to help you out. Hope I've been able to help you some.

i'm all excited about the magnaflow now. another question: i can get a magnaflow catback kit online for pretty cheap. would the custom route be comparable in performance/sound? in the end the price would be pretty similar.
now to decide between throttle body or catback. hmmmmm......
