It depends on what the long term goal is, most intakes are the same, only big difference is AMS' is made out of Aluminum and others are made out of Stainless Steel.

Almost all the intakes are seeing the same gains, so it is really up to you.

I think Buschur's is the best bang for the buck! $209.00 is a great price!

Aluminum offers a few advantages: less weight and better heat transfer properties.

We have made them both in Stainless and Aluminum . A few years back I had a friend test out the ability for each to heat transfer/retention and after testing he came back with a difference of +/- .05 degrees , which means for transporting air whichever will work .

and yeah Aluminum will weigh less -- lol

In the end, its up to you, they are producing the same gains for the most part.

Well one difference is whether or not the intake uses the stock MAF housing.

if they do NOT use the stock MAF housing, they will probably cause the MAF signal to be adjusted an unknown amount, causing the car to run more lean.

This is a good thing, if you want quick bang for the buck, because leaning it out = more power on the X. However, most shops offering ECU reflashes require you to use either their intake or the stock one, because they cannot tell how much every other intake is changing the MAF signal.

So, the buschur racing intake uses the stock MAF housing, and the AMS one does not. I'm assuming, but not certain, that the buschur racing intake will be more compatible with other shops tuning the X than the AMS one would. However, i would guess that the AMS would show more power gains on a stock ecu, because it will lean the A/F ratio out a little more than the buschur. After you get a tune, the differences will be negligble, since the A/F ratio will be properly tuned.

This is a much more important characteristic than steel vs aluminum, IMO.
